Afritech Specialised Chemicals ("Afritech", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who we are
Afritech Specialised Chemicals is a specialised chemical manufacturer based at 108 Reeb Road, Denel Site, Macassar, Cape Town, 7130, South Africa. For POPIA purposes we are the "responsible party" for the personal information described in this policy.

2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you request a quote or contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email, we receive the details you choose to share, such as:
- your name and company name;
- your phone or WhatsApp number and email address;
- the industry you work in and the products, quantities or specifications you need;
- anything else you include in your message.
Information collected automatically. Like all websites, our hosting provider's servers record standard technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. These server logs are used only to keep the website running securely.
What we do not collect. This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or social media pixels. See our Cookie Policy.
Giving us your information is voluntary. If you do not provide your contact details, we may not be able to reply to your enquiry or give you a quote.
3. How the quote form works
The quote form on our Contact page does not store your details on this website. When you press Send via WhatsApp or Send by email, the form prepares a message in WhatsApp or in your own email app. Your information only reaches us when you send that message yourself. You can review or change the message before sending it.
4. Why we use your information
We use your personal information only for the purposes below, and on the lawful grounds allowed by section 11 of POPIA:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.
5. Marketing
We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, or if you are an existing customer and the messages are about similar products or services, as POPIA allows. Every marketing message will tell you how to opt out, and you can opt out at any time by contacting us.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only when needed for the purposes above:
- Our team – staff who need it to respond to you or supply your order.
- Service providers – such as our website hosting provider and our email provider (MWEB), who process information on our behalf and must keep it confidential and secure.
- WhatsApp – if you choose to contact us by WhatsApp, your messages are handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy.
- Professional advisers and authorities – such as auditors, legal advisers, or government bodies where the law requires it.
7. Information sent outside South Africa
Some service providers, such as WhatsApp and email services, may store or process information on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on the protections allowed by section 72 of POPIA, such as the provider being bound by laws or agreements that give a similar level of protection, or your consent when you choose to contact us through that service.
8. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and access to enquiries is limited to staff who need it. If a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. Quotes, invoices and other business records are kept for as long as the law requires, for example at least five years for tax records. Enquiries that do not lead to business are deleted when they are no longer needed.
10. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
- object to us processing your information, including for marketing;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

11. Children
This website is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Our website links to WhatsApp and Google Maps. When you follow these links, the other site's own privacy and cookie policies apply.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
